On February 22, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, triggering a major geopolitical and, above all, human upheaval. In response to the urgency and to support this surge of solidarity, the PAUSE programme implemented unprecedented emergency measures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thanks to an exceptional support from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Culture, PAUSE created two Ukraine Solidarity Emergency Funds, one for scientists and the other for artists and cultural professionals.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The objective: to provide three months of funding to allow them to take shelter with their families. 176 scientists and artists were able to benefit from these Funds within a few months.<\/strong><\/p>\n ” global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Quelques jours apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9but du conflit, les communaut\u00e9s universitaire et artistique fran\u00e7aises se sont mobilis\u00e9es pour leurs coll\u00e8gues ukrainien.nes. Face \u00e0 l’urgence et pour soutenir cet \u00e9lan de solidarit\u00e9, le programme PAUSE a mis en place des dispositifs d’urgence sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un soutien exceptionnel du minist\u00e8re de l’Enseignement sup\u00e9rieur et de la Recherche et celui de la Culture, PAUSE a cr\u00e9\u00e9 deux Fonds d’urgence Solidarit\u00e9 Ukraine<\/strong>, l’un pour les scientifiques, l’autre pour les artistes et professionnels de la culturel.<\/p>\n L’objectif : offrir un financement de 3 mois pour permettre leur mise \u00e0 l’abri avec leur famille. 176 personnes ont pu b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de ces Fonds en quelques mois.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.23.4″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#142da5″ min_height=”100px” custom_margin=”0px||0px||false|false” content_en_us=”<\/p>\n In parallel, a close collaboration with the National Research Agency (ANR) resulted in a specific mechanism to provide bridging funding for 6 to 12 months, renewable once, to approximately 60 Ukrainian scientists who had received an emergency funding.<\/p>\n ” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n En parall\u00e8le, une collaboration \u00e9troite avec l\u2019Agence nationale de la recherche (ANR) a abouti \u00e0 un dispositif sp\u00e9cifique pour assurer un financement relai de 6 \u00e0 12 mois, renouvelable une fois, \u00e0 une soixantaine de scientifiques ukrainien\u00b7nes b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires d’un fonds d’urgence<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/www.programmepause.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/3-ans-Ukraine1.png” title_text=”3 ans Ukraine(1)” _builder_version=”4.23.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.23.4″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#142da5″ min_height=”100px” custom_margin=”0px||-20px||false|false” custom_padding=”||0px||false|false” hover_enabled=”0″ content_en_us=”<\/p>\n Since 2022, and beyond these emergency measures, PAUSE has facilitated the hosting of over 300 Ukrainian and Russian scientists and artists, providing them with a safe space to continue their work.<\/strong><\/p>\n \nUkraine Solidarity Emergency Funds<\/p>\n These figures demonstrate the scale of the mobilization and the impact of PAUSE and the entire network of actors who are committed and are continuously adapting to support their fellow scientists and artists in danger.<\/p>\n Ukraine Solidarity Emergency Funds<\/p>\n Faced with global instability and the increasing threats against academic and artistic freedoms, PAUSE’s ability to react is more essential than ever. However, the programme’s financial situation is a cause for concern: while more than 170 people were supported in 2024\u2014across all nationalities\u2014less than a hundred will get assistance in 2025<\/strong>. To host an unfortunately growing number of scientists and artists fleeing conflicts, it is imperative to diversify and sustain the sources of funding.<\/p>\n Ukraine Solidarity Emergency Funds<\/p>\n
